The Dirty Projectors have just announced the details regarding their followup to Bitte Orca. The new album, Swing Lo Magellan, will be available July 10 via Domino Records. Details about the release after the jump.
Swing Lo Magellan will be the Dirty Projectors’ sixth album. As put by frontman David Longstreth, “It’s an album of songs, an album of songwriting.” Over the course of 12 months, Longstreth wrote seventy new songs and beats, with the rest of the band joining in periodically.
Whereas Bitte Orca explored the complex harmonies capable with human voices, Swing Lo Magellan will serve as a collection of spontaneous moments. After finishing forty demos, the band carved down the experiment into 12 tracks. Listen to the beautiful simplicity of “Gun Has No Trigger”.
