The Flaming Lips have been collecting samples of blood from the contributors of their exclusive Record Store collaborative album The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends which they plan to release with the album.

The Flaming Lips have done some weird things over the last couple years; released an EP inside a Marijuana flavored Gummy skull, enclosed six hour song with The Strobo Trip Light Phase Illusion Toy, written a song called “I’m Working At NASA On Acid,” and released 24 hour song inside of a real human skull but their newest announcement might be the strangest.
Recently The Lips announced the details for their collaborative album The Flaming Lips With Heady Fwends. It is going to include such artists as Ke$ha, Erykah Badu, Bon Iver, Neon Indian, Nick Cave and many more. Wayne Coyne recently announced that he is trying to get actual blood samples to be released with some of the vinyl. “I don’t have everyone blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vitals and it’s actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak,” said Wayne. I know The Flaming Lips are going for the Weirdest Band of All-Time Award but this sounds like something out of Dexter.
The blood sample copies will be very limited-probably only five or six- and will be very expensive. Everyone else in the general public can buy The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends on Record Store Day, April 21st.
