ASAP Rocky Live at 1100 Warehouse VICE Kills Texas Party SXSW

At the very end of the final day of SXSW 2012, VICE’s late night party dubbed VICE Kills Texas took an ugly turn when a performance by A$AP Rocky and his larger rap crew A$AP Mob ended in a brawl and ultimately the early conclusion of the event. Thrash punks Trash Talk had already finished a set earlier in the evening. The whole A$AP Rocky Mob took the stage around 2:30 a.m. Before the incident, the band managed about six songs. An audience member stage dove and apparently inadvertently kicked off one member’s bandana. That member then stopped the show to insist that the bandana be returned. At this point a cup holding ice and apparently an alcoholic beverage was thrown at the performers. This had happened several times already during the show. Several members of the band indicated, “if anything else is thrown at the stage that isn’t water…” and before he could finish another cup was flung at the stage. There was a brief moment of shock and then around nine mebers of the group jumped off of the stage, rushed into the crowd and a full brawl ensued. A circle opened up and a melee was apparent. Within two minutes the brawl ended and the crowd began to quiet. A voice in the distance-presumably the police security onhand-shouted, “Shut it down!” From there security immediately started having the crowd leave the building. Upon exiting at least two crowd members could be seen with cuts and bruises from the scuffle.
