Indie hype machine Best Coast played Google and Youtube’s rooftop events (one of many events this year streamed live on the web. The band’s lead singer Betahny Cosentino appeared a little out of sorts, stumbling over her words when she tried to say “South By Southwest,” eventually calling it “South By South Land.” The band’ dirty rock/clean vocal style was pleasant. It’s easy to see why they’re so popular with a harder sound that manages to not be too abrasive. The set was filled with mostly new songs and tracks like “The Only Place,” while fun, didn’t seem to incite the small crowd to more than polite applause.
