Despite continuing rumors that hip hop group Outkast will be releasing another album, former member Andre 3000 recently made statements that none of this is true. Although, after sustaining himself with collaborations he may be ready to debut as a solo artist.
Outkast group member Andre 3000 has made it clear that there are no current plans for he and fellow musician Big Boi to record any new music under their former title. He has, however, made known his excitement over multiple chances to collaborate with emerging artists in recent years. On the matter he stated,
I’ve been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, ‘Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.’ So I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive.
One such appearance was on the Gorillaz‘ uplifting and quirky track “DoYaThing.” Watch the video below. The song also features LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and the video was directed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett.
