Fantômas Still on Hiatus, Have Not Recorded Together Since 2003 Says King Buzzo

Despite the common belief that Fantômas has been in the studio as of recent, the group has not recorded new music since 2003.  When Buzz Osborne was interviewed by the Rolling Stone in regards to the Melvin’s forthcoming releases, he mentioned that Fantômas is on an indefinite hiatus.

Fantômas is an avante-garde metal band composed of Dave Lombardo, Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn, and Buzz Osborne.  Although many of the musicians are noteworthy and have been involved in various projects, members of Fantômas are quick to admit that the group primarily operates under the machinations of Mike Patton.  When the Rolling Stone asked Osborne whether or not he’d be up for a Fantômas revival, he’s what he had to say:

I would do whatever Mike [Patton] wants to. But it’s really not my deal. It’s really up to him. Fantômas really isn’t a band – it’s more like us trying to interpret Mike’s music. And bear in mind, Fantômas hasn’t been in the studio since 2003.

Although a reunion and potential new record is unlikely due to Mike Patton’s busy schedule these days, there might be a chance if he were up to it.
