Keeping us on our toes, The Flaming Lips are surprising us yet again with an exciting collaboration. Partnering with pop singer Ke$ha, the band continues their tradition of artistic collaborating. Ke$ha follows a long line of artists to work with the illustrious band, including Bon Iver,Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, Nels Cline, and Lightning Bolt.
Ke$ha has rocked the pop world with “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R,” and as Spin puts it, she is “pop’s basement-party princess.” According to Spin, Ke$ha and The Flaming Lips had quite the time recording together, even posting pictures and videos of the bizarre insanity that ensued. The artists poked fun at each other, held contests to see who could sing the highest, experimented with gold glitter, and simply goofed around.
Amidst all of the fun, the group managed to create some true art. Commenting on Ke$ha’s skills, The Flaming Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne tweeted, “She’s crazy.. But shit!!!!she can really fuckin SING!!!”
