Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has reported via his Twitter account that he has been working with Dave Grohl and Nirvana’s producer Butch Vig on a new project. This, along with a report from members of RATT, has lead fans to believe that Dave Grohl is working on a new collaborative project that has yet to be revealed.
A recent tweet from Corey Taylor said, “HUGE checks off the Bucket List today- did a song with Dave Grohl and Butch Vig. Do the words ‘holy shit’ say enough about it?!?” Although neither Taylor nor Grohl has said anything more specific, there clearly is something new in the works for Grohl.
Similarly, RATT singer Stephen Pearcy wrote, “Warren and I are recording an original song for a project with Dave. He’s way cool and we’re ready to go…We’ll let [Dave] tell you about when he’s ready, kidz.”
As Antiquiet predicts, this project is likely to be linked to a film that Dave Grohl is working on about legendary Sound City. This was the studio that Nirvana tracked “Smells Like Teen Spirit” back in 1991. Grohl was disappointed that such an iconic studio was closing down and decided to do something about it. Grohl said, “I decided to make a film about that feeling when you put five guys in a room, hit ‘record’ and the hair on the back of your neck stands up. Expect some epic jam sessions.” From Grohl, we’ve come to expect nothing less than epic jam sessions. We’ll keep you posted as details continue to unfold.
