Ariel Pink Has Two New Albums in the Works and A Movie About A Werewolf

As reported by V Magazine‘s music issue, Ariel Pink is involved in a variety of projects set to surface in the near future.  Not only can we expect a new Haunted Graffiti album, but he is also collaborating with R. Stevie Moore, and producing a werewolf film.

When speaking of his forthcoming Haunted Graffiti album, Pink says, “It’s like a rock-and-roll detective story.  There’s a rock star who dies onstage and his brother wants to get to the bottom of the caper.”  The working title of this album is A Death in Hollywood, although it may change before the album is released.

Though Pink serves as the primary songwriter in Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, he’s definitely interested in the idea of collaboration.  The artist reported to V that the album is in conceptual development, but the rest of the band has yet to hear any of the material.  Pink hopes for a more collaborative effort this time around, signaling his band’s duty to “decode” .  Pink comments, “it really is a step in the evolution of the band, and it’s very exciting for me.”

The other Ariel Pink album on the way is a collaboration with lo-fi master R. Stevie Moore.  The album will be controversially titled as Ku Klux Glam. Though Pink argues this track is unfinished, a version of “Dutch Me”, a song to be expected off Ku Klux Glam is available on Soundcloud and can be played below.

His werewolf film, tentatively titled as Bad Vibes, is another impending release by Pink.  In this film, Pink serves as the producer, scorer, and actor with Dave Gebroe as the director.  For the film score, Ariel Pink plans on writing material for other bands to play in the film.  Though many bands are expected to appear throughout the film, the story is centered around a band Pink dubs as the “Sunrise Majesty, which is a mixture of Sly and the Family Stone and Jefferson Airplane.  There’s already a whole backstory and mythology around them that’s pretty elaborate.”
