Watch: Austra Release New Video for “Spellwork”

Toronto’s ethereal electronic group Austra have made 2012 entrance a new video for the track “Spellwork,” off of their 2011 debut album Feel it Break. Check out the Yelena Yemchuk-directed effort after the jump.

Feel It Break
was released on May 17 from Paper Bag Records and was shortlisted for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize shortly after (though the group lost out to Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs). Austra has also released an EP, Sparkle, and several singles.

The video, which was made with directorial and photography effort from Yelena Yemchuk, whose previous credits include the Smashing Pumpkin’s videos “Zero” and “Thirty-Three.” Yemchuk describes it as a “surreal fairy tale” and with sporadic appearances from masked man, an occasionally cantering horse and some surreal head-dunking and group dancing, it doesn’t fail to arouse interest if nothing else.
