According to Tweet from official Coachella 2012 organizers, this year’s festival has already sold out. Tickets went on sale at 10am EST, and within 40 minutes, weekend one was completely sold out. Within another two hours, weekend two had also been completely bought up.
Though the popularity of the weekend one may be due in part to the festival’s layaway allowances, the second weekend does not have the financial perk (perhaps explaining why it took all of two hours rather than 40 minutes to tap out the second set of dates).
In a strange (but also, perhaps predictable) turn of events, many of the tickets have already been marked up and posted on ebay, in spite of the fact that many of the ‘ticket holders’ will not yet have physical ticket in their possessions (caution, kids). According to eBay, prices on the freshly-turned tickets are currently ranging from $200 to $8000 dollars.
As previously reported, the lead-in to this year’s festival has had series of schedule changes, group additions, and last-minute back-outs. Check out a full list of scheduled groups at the festival’s official site.
And, for the scrappy and quick ticket holders who aren’t whirling around to eBay: all of the necessary lodging and travel information for the April 13-15 and April 20-22 events is available here.
Last year’s festival saw similar popularity, though certainly not to the two-hour sell-out event that 2012’s event has turned out to be.
