Mike Patton to Score Upcoming Ryan Gosling Film The Place Beyond The Pines + New Tomahawk Album With Trevor Dunn on Bass Planned for Summer 2012 Release

Songwriter Mike Patton has been chosen to score Derek Cianfrance’s new film, The Place Beyond the Pines.  The film features stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes, and is highly anticipated after Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine.  Patton has also confirmed that a new Tomahawk album is on the way.

Mike Patton is perhaps best known as the frontman for the experimental metal band Faith No More, although he also cofounded Mr. Bungle and has been playing in Tomahawk since 2000.  Aside from the bands he has been involved in during the last four decades, he has also taken to film scoring.

This won’t be Patton’s first time scoring, he has already worked on an Italian drama called A Solitude of Prime Numbers, as well as Crank 2: High Voltage and a short film called A Perfect Place.

In other Mike Patton related news, a new Tomahawk album is set to be released summer 2012.  It has been confirmed that Trevor Dunn, the bassist who cofounded Mr. Bungle with Patton, will be playing bass on the new Tomahawk album.
