Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, is joining his former supergroup Velvet Revolver for a one night performance at “Love You Madly”, a tribute concert at the House of Blues in honor of the late composer, John O’Brien.
Musician Scott Weiland is set to reunite for a one night show with Velvet Revolver. In addition to Weiland, the supergroup, which gained success in 2004, also consists of Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum (all of Guns N’ Roses fame), and Wasted Youth‘s Dave Kushner. Spawned from another collaborative benefit concert, their first album, entitled Contraband, debuted at number one on the American Billiboard 200 chart. Until now they have been on hiatus as a group for almost four years.
This special concert will take place on January 12th, 2012 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. The intent of the show is to pay tribute to John O’Brien. He was most notably an award winning composer with The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). O’ Brien had composed music for films like Nightwatch, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Pineapple Express. In 2007 he won an ASCAP Film and Television award for music composition on the film The Break-Up.
The concert is being headlined by Maroon 5 members Adam Levine, and James Valentine. Their group has enjoyed international success with singles like, “This Love“, “Sunday Morning” and most recently, “Moves Like Jagger” (feat. Christina Aguilera). In addition to this concert, the band also have a few other shows lined up. See details below.
These groups will be joined by other artists, including Sheryl Crow, Tom Morello, Stephen Stills, The Forest Rangers with Katey Sagal & Curtis Stigers and Chantal Kreviazuk.
