Metallica are prepping for their upcoming European tour. It was recently realized that thier 1991 self titled fifth album, is the top selling of the SoundScan era.

Legendary heavy metal group Metallica are only a few months away from beginning their European tour. It was recently found that their fifth album, a self titled venture remains at the top of the SoundScan era which began in 1991 and ended at the beginning of this year. The album has stayed ahead of the likes of Alanis Morissette (Jagged Little Pill), Santana (Supernatural), and Celine Dion (Falling Into You). They ranked as the fourth highest selling artist under Garth Brooks, The Beatles, and Mariah Carey.
In addition to their upcoming tour, Metallica are set to release their new EP Beyond Magnetic at the end of January. It is available for pre-order here. The group also has a 3D movie in the works, with details yet to be released.
