Raconteurs musician, Brendan Benson has announced his plans to start Readymade, a music label and publishing company. In addition, he is releasing a new album and has some May tour dates lined up. Read on for more.
The label Readymade was conceptualized by Benson in the 90s, and brought to life with the help of his manager Emily White. The company believes that an artist owned label is the perfect place for music development because of the creative freedom and personal ownership of the music. They have thought of a new approach to promotion and production by working with industry friends and other well known individuals on a commission based process.
Benson came to recognition in 1996 with his debut album, One Mississippi, via Virgin Records. After this, he went on to release Lapalco, The Alternative to Love, and My Old Familiar Friend. In 2005 he became member of the group, The Raconteurs along side Jack White ( The White Stripes), Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler. Together they released the albums Broken Boy Soldiers, and Consolers of the Lonely.
The label will produce Benson’s newest album, What Kind of World, due out on April 21, 2012. Also due for release is the label’s first signed artist Young Hines‘ debut, Give Me My Change on April 10, 2012. In promotion for his record, Benson will be on tour in May. Included in this is a stop at this years’ SXSW festival in Austin, TX. See the dates below.
