The album is described by amNY as ‘danceable pop with a dark side’, and the press release promises the dregs of New York City sleaze, the “low-lifes, night-walkers, pill-riders, and other sordid characters that stalk the band’s city streets”. Splendor Squalor sees the band’s songwriting becoming more sophisticated, seamlessly flowing from punk rave-ups to new-wave anthems, but none-the-less emitting the dark energy the band is famous for.
