Animosity Lineup of Corrosion of Conformity Announce New Self-Titled Album for February 2012 Release

American metal group Corrosion of Conformity have announced a February 28 release date for their forthcoming self-titled album.  The group is also embarking on a handful of US tour dates beginning in late December. Check out a full tracklist and tour dates after the jump.

The album will feature the same lineup of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin that comprised their 1985 album Animosity. One track from the album, “Holier,” has been covered in live performances by the likes of Metallica and Monster Voodoo Machine. Metallica are professed long time fans of the group.

The February 28 release closes a 6-year recording gap and will be the culmination of over a year’s work from the group, with one major setback—a studio-flattening tornado—standing in the way of the album’s completion.

To complete the effort, the group teamed up with long-time collaborator John Custer, who took on production duties.

“As a whole, the album was an inspired and efficient collaboration,” says Dean. “John Custer told me he thought we were all working together as one organism, which is an apt description.”

The album will be available on standard CD, deluxe digipack, and two exclusive vinyl formats. The standard album will feature eleven new songs, and the deluxe digipack and vinyl formats will include an additional two.
