Blur has confirmed that they will be playing at the 2012 Brit Awards, which will take place at the O2 Arena on February 21 2012. They will be playing in honor of receiving the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the ceremony.
This will be Blur’s first live performance in three years. The band’s appearance at the 2012 Brit Awards was confirmed by bassist Alex James on XFM Radio. He commented, “We’re going to play, which is brilliant, it’s like putting the Blues Brothers back together.”
Loyal Blur fans shouldn’t get too excited about the news of their appearance at the 2012 Brit Awards, since it does not necessarily mean that the band will be hitting the road or working on new material any time soon. Though this is not out of the question in the future, as of right now, the band’s appearance at the 2012 Brit Awards should be considered a special occasion.
Along with Blur, Adele also will be taking the stage at the awards ceremony. News has it that there will be an onstage collaboration from Rihanna and Coldplay as well. They will surely play “Princess of China,” which featured Rihanna on their recent record Mylo Xyloto, but perhaps they will have some other material worked out for the awards ceremony.
