Gallagher Brothers Further Legal Dispute Surrounding Oasis Breakup

Noel and Liam Gallagher have resumed their legal dispute surrounding the breakup of Oasis in 2009, as reported by Pitchfork. According to the court documents provided by the Daily Mirror, Noel is accusing his brother Liam of leaving “offensive” messages on his wife’s answering machine, abusing Oasis fans, as well as attacking him backstage with guitar “like an axe” in 2009, eventually leading to the band’s demise.

According to the documents provided by the Mirror, Noel accused Liam of “pursuing an incompatible lifestyle,” and “treating Oasis fans and [Noel] with disrespect by disrupting gigs, walking off stage, assaulting them and generally acting irresponsibly.” Noels lawyers  also listed 12 occasions between 1994-2005 in which Liam “disrupted gigs” by storming out, getting drunk or getting into fights.

Of the altercation in 2009, the papers read, “[Liam] went to his dressing room, fetched his guitar, and on returning began swinging the guitar around in the air like an axe, nearly smashing [Noel] in the face with it.”

All of this comes just after Liam sued Noel for Libel in Agust after Noel told journalists that Oasis missed their 2009 V Festival date due to Liam’s hangover-not his reported laryngitis. The charges were later dropped however after Noel apologized.

Both men declined to comment, but if Liam picks his suit back up as he is likely to do, the pair could be facing each in court in 2012.
