Spiritualized, the space rock band out of England, has announced a new album. Sweet Heart Sweet Light is set to be released on the Mississippi-based label Fat Possom in March 2012.
The album was recorded over the last two years in a variety of locations, with tracking taking place in Los Angeles, Wales, and Reykjavik. Once the tracking was complete, frontman Jason Pierce, also known as J. Spaceman, spent a year mixing the album at his home. Sweet Heart Sweet Light will be the seventh studio album by Spiritualized and is bound to be filled with the same attention to detail that the band has put into each of their albums.
The musically courageous outfit’s perspective is perhaps best voiced by J. Spaceman, who said, “I don’t believe there are any rules.” The four-year-long wait for this album will undoubtably be worth the wait, for Pierce puts great care into all of his music. Another great line he provided about Sweet Heart Sweet Light is, “when you make a record, it has to be the single most important thing in your world.” Come March 2012, we’ll have the good fortune of hearing how the most important thing in Pierce’s world turned out.
