SXSW 2012 Announces Bruce Springsteen As This Year’s Keynote Speaker

SXSW’s March 15 keynote event will officially will be headed up by Bruce Springsteen, who will deliver his address at the Austin Convention Center, the venue at the heart of the SXSW music events.



The event has a long tradition of slotting marquee artists into their keynote addresses,and  past speeches have been given by the likes of Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Smokey Robinson, Neil Young, Robert Plant, Lucinda Williams, and Pete Townshend.

Springsteen will also, according to a recent announcement, embark on a world tour in support of a yet-to-be-titled album. Though dates are not official, it will reportedly begin in March.

Springsteen’s keynote will be open to registrants and registered artists that sprung for the Music and Platinum registration choices.  Registration for this year’s festival is still open—check out the festival’s official site for details.
