Almost two years since Kiwi comedic music duo Flight of the Conchords announced they won’t return to HBO for third season of their short lived show, news of a potential movie has begun to surface. While speaking with Totalfilms.com about The Muppets movie, Bert McKenzie stated that plans for a movie are in the works.
The only thing holding back the project at this time, McKenzie stated is, “we just need a story.”
Since leaving HBO after their show’s second season, Flight of the Conchords took off on a tour promoting their second studio album which featured songs from the show’s second season. While on that tour they also performed newer songs alluding to the fact that despite the show running it’s course, Flight of the Conchords had not touched down.
However they haven’t done much outside of touring since.
That trend may be at it’s end. With Bert McKenzie writing a fair number of songs for The Muppets movie which released last week, they haven’t been on the road since Summer. Which might suggest that they are not only working on their movie project in general, but also writing the story for it which they currently lack.
