During the second night of this year’s SWU Festival in Sao Paulo Brazil, the crowd for Hole witnessed quite an unexpected performance. On that Sunday night after front woman Courtney Love flashed them, she ranted at and threatened an audience member before exiting the stage with the band in tow.
Yet, her words weren’t unwarranted. Though a crass response, the singer ripped into the audience member for holding up a picture of her late husband Kurt Cobain.
Oh shit this is fuckin’ hard, you know I don’t need to see a picture of Kurt asshole, and I’m gonna have you fuckin’ removed if you keep throwing that up, said Love.
Following her terse retort to the audience member’s repeated showing of the picture, Love continued to rant and ramble on about her deceased husband and Dave Grohl for another half minute before exiting stage left followed by her band members.
Based upon her choice words and thoughts which she shared with the entire audience in the hall, Love unloaded her frustrations about her late husband’s death and his ghost which still lingers throughout her life; in this case brought to bare by the picture flashing audience member.
Throwing that up is stupid and rude, and I’m gonna beat the fuck outta you if you do it again…you know, you weren’t fuckin’ married to him I fuckin’ was, added Love.
However her threat appeared to pass unnoticed. Though videos from the show don’t display the fan, nor can you hear if they responded verbally back to the singer; Love had one last bit to share with the audience exemplified with a raised middle finger shortly thereafter.
Great, we’ll leave now…fuck you, said Love.
Storming off, the rest of Hole remained on stage dazed and confused for a few seconds before exiting the stage themselves hot on Love’s heels. The members of the band spoke briefly with Love in the stage wing for about a minute before guitarist Micko Larkin addressed the crowd with the terms of Love’s return to the stage.
Do you guys want to see Courtney back? Alright then repeat after me after three…the Foo Fighters are gay…one, two three, instructed Larkin.
After the crowd repeated for Larkin, they began to to chant “Courtney” prompting the singer and her band to return on stage for the remainder of their set time.
