Dr. Dog Announce New Album Be the Void For February 2012 Release

Philadelphia, PA-based psychedelic rock outfit Dr. Dog recently announced that they will release their new album, Be the Void, on February 7, 2012 via Anti-Records. The album will serve as the follow up to 2010’s critically acclaimed Shame, Shame.

As per previous releases, Dr. Dog has come to be known for their carefully layered melodious pop. For Be the Void, however, they have reportedly gone in a more rock-inspired, guitar-driven direction.

Joining the band this time around for recording was recently added drummer Eric Slick along with guitarist/percussionist Dmitri Manos.  The addition of new members, in the estimation of Dr. Dog bassist/vocalist Toby Leaman, did not hamper the recording process.

“We would just get in the pocket and go with it because it sounded great. There wasn’t this endless deliberating. We just went with our gut feelings on things,” he said.

Ranging from the raucous punk energy of “Over Here Over There” to the band’s inspired take on the blues on Be the Void’s title track, Dr. Dog’s newest effort brings together a variety of rock stylings to create a momentous and unmistakable sound.

The band is set to release a 7” single that features two songs from Be the Void on Black Friday.
