Van Halen to Play Grammy Nominations Concert

Despite a successful reunion tour in 2007 and 2008, the Grammys through a rather obvious tweet for Van Halen fans, broke the news that the band will play the Nov. 30th show as the “reuniting” band.

Stated via Twitter, The Grammys offered up a question of prediction for whom the reuniting band would be for the nomination concert to be held at the end of the month; rather than giving fans a good go at things, they offered the following hint which cast a bright star over the shadowed question:

Does this hint make u wanna “Jump” & “Dance the Night Away”?

It doesn’t take much Van Halen knowledge to glue those pieces together, anyone with an ear for rock radio could identify those well worn tracks as an after thought, however what does come to question is why now?

With reports of near completed new Van Halen album, the first to feature David Lee Roth on vocals since 1984’s 1984, one can only wonder why the Grammys have decided to invite Van Halen to play as their reuniting band for the nomination show considering the band has officially reunited twice over the last seven years, with Sammy Hagar in 2004 and Roth in 2007.

Either way, the line up still features Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, on bass and back up vocals after severing ties with longtime Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony following the Hagar reunion tour.

Van Halen will be joined by Lady Gaga, Sugarland, Ludacris, and Lupe Fiasco at the Grammy Nominations Concert.
