Collective group Another Honest Jon’s Chop Up kicked off Ireland’s Cork Jazz Festival on October 28. The group is one of the many pet projects of musician Damon Albarn. This live performance was a promotion for Another Honest Jon band members Albarn, Flea, and Tony Allen’s side project, forthcoming album, Rocketjuice and The Moon.
All members of the group include Blur musician Damon Albarn, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Sun Ra Arkestra trumpet player Phil Cohran, Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, house producer Theo Parrish, and South African hip-hop crew M.Anifest.
Rocketjuice and the Moon was formed in 2008 by Albarn, Flea, and Allen serving as showcase for these well-known musicians. Albarn has also been a part of Gorillaz, and shared the stage with Allen in the group the Good, the Bad, and the Queen. Their album release date is yet to be stated, but check out video of the performances below.
