Actor John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone, Deadwood) is showing off his talent for music alongside his acting skills in the upcoming film Martha Marcy May Marlene, directed by Sean Durkin. View his performance of Jackson C. Frank’s “Marcy’s Song,” after the jump.
Hawkes’ perhaps lesser-known career as a musician began when he left college at St. Cloud University for Austin, Texas, where he began playing with a group called Meat Joy.
After pursuing his acting career, and landing a slew of television and film roles, Hawkes’ music career has not gone by the wayside, as seen in Martha Marcy May Marlene’s performance. Hawkes can now be seen playing in the L.A.-based group, King Straggler.
For the time being, Hawkes seems to be focusing on his acting career, with Martha Marcy May Marlene due out on December 21. Catch him performing his cover of “Marcy’s Song,” and check out Hawkes’ group, King Straggler on their official website.
