As we reported back in August, no illegal drugs were found in the late Amy Winehouse’s body at the time of her death this past July. A recent Associated Press report confirmed that the singer’s death was the result of alcohol poisoning, revelation that goes against father Mitch Winehouse’s September conjecture that his daughter died as a result of alcohol withdrawal.
Coroner Suzanne Greenaway ruled Winehouse’s demise “death by misadventure,” a verdict that is supported by pathologist Suhail Baithun’s finding that the singer’s BAC was five times the legal driving limit at the time of her death (175 µg per 100 ml for breath alcohol).
Winehouse’s struggled openly with drugs and alcohol during her career, though the singer’s autopsy results have settled the debate over the role that drugs played in her death.
At the time of her death, Winehouse was reportedly working on a new album.
