MGMT to Play New York’s Guggenheim Museum in November

Neo-psychedelia princes MGMT recently announced they will stop by New York’s famed Guggenheim Museum for couple of shows on November 10-11.  Incidentally, those dates will take place during the museum’s exhibit on artist Maurizio Cattelan.

MGMT explained their decision to play the spiral-shape Guggenheim via an official press release:

“We’re creating a musical experience that works for the building, and for the construction and presentation of the Cattelan exhibition. The art exhibition is done in a completely original way, so it deserves music which is completely original. The Guggenheim performance won’t be a traditional MGMT show, but it will be ____.”

The Guggenheim’s unique shape will present a sonic challenge to the band, but on the upside they’ll be surrounded by the work of Cattelan.

Their first scheduled date, on November 10, will serve as the after-party for the Guggenheim International Gala.
