In honor of the Bridge School Benefit Concert’s 25th Anniversary, for the first time ever the all-acoustic musical performances will be broadcasted live via webcast for Youtube and Facebook. The now famous concert benefiting the children of the Bridge School in Mountain View, California will be held Saturday, October 22 at the Shoreline Amphitheater.
The concerts funds will be directly benefiting the nonprofit innovative organization that educates children who have severe speech and physical impairments. Due in part to funds rose by the concert; the students are able to benefit from state of the art augmentative and alternative communication systems and assistive technology. Legendary musician Neil Young and his wife Pegi Young created the now famous concert series. They have two children with debilitating mental impairments who have directly benefited from the Bridge School and the amazing donations made by fans and concertgoers. Every year Young plays a set, and plays a large roll in booking the talent for the annual show.
This year the artists performing at the event are just as amazing, if not better, than those that have performed in the past. As of today, the artists musicians set to appear are Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Arcade Fire, Eddie Vedder, Los Invisibles (featuring Carlos Santana, Cindy Blackman Santana & guests), Beck, Mumford & Sons, Devendra Banhart and Norah Jones with The Little Willies.
The Bridge School has also announced that they will be selling a commemorative 3-part DVD and 2-part CD of performances from the past 25 years. The 3-DVD set includes two performance discs featuring Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, The Who, Tom Petty, Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, and much more. Along with this the 2 CD set features exclusive performances from Sheryl Crow, Thom Yorke, Norah Jones, No Doubt, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and Sonic Youth to name a few.
If you chose to tune into the event via webcast you are granted certain perks that the average concert attendee don’t necessarily get. For the event, Facebook has designed a custom-made incredibly interactive App that provides a page for the worldwide online community to watch and interact with one another. The online audience and the actual audience at the concert can share photos, reactions, and messages all while watching the concert as it happens.
