Watch: Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans”

Sultry New York sad-pop siren Lana Del Rey has released a music video for the second single from her 2011 Video Games EP, “Blue Jeans”. The Video Games EP rose to number 5 on the iTunes chart hours after its October 10 release, and the following day the singer debuted for the first time on U.K. television on Later…with Jools Holland. Check out the video for “Blue Jeans” after the jump:

“Blue Jeans” features the pouty-lipped singer in a carpeted-room, joined only by a reverb-drenched guitar that chugs a melancholy chord progression as she recounts meeting an unlikely lover and their subsequent separation. It is a sad-pop lullaby to the core, yet another reminder that opposites attract but don’t always stay together

Love her or hate her, Lana Del Rey has been earning increasing recognition in and out of the blogosphere, negative and positive, since her song “Video Games” was released in July. This track earned the self-proclaimed “gangster Nancy Sinatra” Pitchfork’s “Best New Track” distinction in August. She released an EP in 2009 entitled Kill Kill Kill under her real name, Lizzie Grant, which was later scrapped in lieu of the Lana Del Rey persona, which the singer admits is a decision her managers and team found more appropriate for the cinematic quality of her music.
