Philadelphia’s favorite hip-hop outfit the Roots recently announced that they will usher in the end of 2011 with a new album, Undun, out December 6 on Def Jam. Check out a short teaser video after the jump.
Confirmation of the new album came earlier this week from the Roots via a post on their official Facebook page that indicated album artwork, tracklisting and sneak peaks at songs are forthcoming. That post also confirmed that Undun will serve as the band’s first concept album.
News of the new album comes just a few months after former bassist Owen Biddle departed from the group to focus on his current efforts behind his side project, Mister Barrington. The band’s previous album, How I Got Over, was released last summer and garnered much critical praise for its existential themes and subtly somber musicality.
