Hank Williams Jr. has officially apologized for his inflammatory statements on “Fox and Friends”, likening Hitler to the President this past Monday Morning. Coinciding with his apology he was also released from his contract with ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
On the well-known conservatively leaning show Williams criticized a golf meeting between Obama and House Speaker John Boehner that took place over the summer. He bluntly stated, “It would be like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu,” Williams said. “Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson later said to Williams, “You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president.” Williams replied, “Well, that is true. But I’m telling you like it is. “Since the explosive fallout Williams’ longstanding “Are you ready for some football” musical lead-in was absent from this week’s ESPN “Monday Night Football” telecast. ESPN stated in a recent press release, “We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”
Williams’ most recent statement regarding the incident, released via his Facebook wall stated, “I have always been very passionate about Politics and Sports and this time it got the Best or Worst of me. The thought of the Leaders of both Parties Jukin and High Fiven on a Golf course, while so many Families are Struggling to get by simply made me Boil over and make a Dumb statement and I am very Sorry if it Offended anyone.
