Dum Dum Girls Premiere Video for “Bedroom Eyes”

California indie pop outfit Dum Dum Girls released their second full-length, Only in Dreams, last week via Subpop Records.  This week, Kristin “Dee Dee” Gundred and her all woman crew released the first video for the album in the for of the undeniably poppy “Bedroom Eyes.”

Rife with kaleidoscopic imagery, the video cuts between normal footage of the band performing and pseudo-psychedelic shots that come to a crescendo on the song’s final chorus.  The darkness present throughout Only in Dreams is present in the fashion of the band, with black outfits punctuating an all white background.

The track itself is gloriously poppy, a clearly 1960s pop-influenced track to which the Dum Dum Girls added a kind of phantasmagoric romance. Sonically, the gothic elements come through even more, with ethereal vocal effects on the chorus and vaguely haunting reverb throughout the track.

Only in Dreams was produced by Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, Go-Go’s) and Sune Rose Wagner of the Raveonettes, and was recorded at Josh Homme’s Pink Duck Studios.
