The Beach Boys are gearing up for their 50th anniversary, including a major reunion tour and a possible new LP.
Guitarist Al Jardine reported to Rolling Stone that “We’ll do maybe 50 amphitheaters here and 50 or 60 overseas. It’ll be whenever the buyers think is the best time for us. We’re wide open for that.”
Surviving members Jardine, Mike Love, Brian Wilson, and Bruce Johnston recently re-recorded “Do It Again.” The single was reportedly filmed for an upcoming promotional video for the alleged tour.
Love hinted at the possibility of a reunion record, but Brian Wilson said otherwise.
“I don’t really like working with the guys, but it all depends on how we feel and how much money’s involved. Money’s not the only reason I made records, but it does hold a place in our lives.”
Still, session veteran Eddie Bayers has stated that “Brian’s new creations are just unbelievable.”
The SMiLE Sessions, featuring five CDs, two LPs, two 7″s, a 60-page book, and a “three-dimensional shadowbox lid,” will be released November 1.
