Having released The Whole Love earlier this week via their own dBpm imprint, beloved Chicago alt-rock outfit Wilco is being praised in reviews as having produced work that is notable due to its willingness to experiment. Check out some of that experimentation after the jump with a stream of “Speak Into the Rose,” from the album’s deluxe version.
A near seven-minute alt-country instrumental, the track seems to showcase Wilco back in the divisive glory of their A Ghost is Born days. With odd undulating squeaks apparent throughout the drum-driven track, the band slashes and flairs over the steady beat the leads up to a rather worth it rock crescendo.
After 17 years in the business, it appears that Jeff Tweedy and company aren’t quite ready to pass the torch just yet.
