Faith No More to Play Classic King For a Day Album with Trey Spruance in Santiago, Chile

Late this evening Faith No More’s keyboardist Roddy Bottum and bassist Billy Gould both revealed via Twitter what they had initially hinted at months ago regarding their November 12th show in Santiago, Chile. For this special performance at the Maquinaria Festival the band will play the entirety of their classic album King for a Day… Fool For a Lifetime, only this time it will be with the original guitarist from that album–Trey Spruance.

Currently the mastermind of the brilliant Secret Chiefs 3 project and formerly the lead guitarist for Mr. Bungle, Spruance was brought on to record and write all the guitar parts for the band’s revered 1995 release, but never performed even once with the band. Guitarist duties fell to then roadie Dean Menta before ultimately the slot was given to Jon Hudson. Hudson has been the guitarist for all reunion shows the band has done thus far.

Gould and Bottom both revealed the information tonight stating:

Santiago, Chile: King for a Day from front to back, with original guitarist Trey Spruance!! Told you it would be something different…!

FNM show in Santiago, Chile in Nov will be KFAD in it’s entirety with the original lineup from that record. Trey Spruance on guitar!

As previously reported, Faith No More’s South American tour dates now number four:

11/8 – Buenos Aires, Argentina – Malvinas Argentinas

11/12 – Santiago, Chile – Maquinaria Festival*
11/14 – São Paulo, Brazil – SWU Music and Arts Festival
