Gigantic Pictures announced recently that Fix: The Ministry Movie, a “warts-and-all” documentary film that offers a rare glimpse into the wild and crazy antics of industrial rock’s original monsters, will be screening during the CMJ Music Festival held at the Chelsea Theater in New York, NY October 19.
The film was directed by Douglas Freel, an award-winning director known for directing hundreds of single videos by rock’s biggest names– Def Leppard, Metallica, KISS, and the Ramones to name a few– and tells the tale of Ministry’s 1996 “Sphinctour”. The press release hails this as “as much a cautionary tale as it is an insider’s look at life on the road with the most excessive and creative industrial band of all-time.”
Ministry made industrial rock an approachable genre by mainstream standards, and their no-holds barred attitudes, excessive creativity and unparallelled live shows shot the band to fame and inspired some of the biggest names in mainstream music to date, many of whom are appearing in the film. The list includes Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys as well as many others.
