Filmed on July 30, the video for Evanescence self-titled album’s first single, “What You Want,” has released. Shot within a Brooklyn warehouse, Evanescence chose veteran video director Meiert Avis who’s worked with U2 and Bruce Springsteen for their first music video since releasing The Open Door in 2006.
This is more a personal video. We’ve done a lot in the past that [were] very ‘fantasy,’ and this is sort of the real us. I just wanted to do something that really felt personal for a change, said Amy Lee during an interview with MTV News.
Rather than displaying their flare for fantasy, the band decided to portray more of their past in the music video. Falling in logical line with the choice to self title this album, the video mirrored bars and clubs the band first began to frequent when they went live
This video is sort of, like, the history of the band…This club [set] is emulating old shows we used to play in the beginning, added Lee during her MTV News interview.
Early last month Evanescence unveiled the single, “What You Want,” during a live performance on MTV. The single subsequently released via iTunes the same day on August 8.
Releasing a day into their planned Fall tour, Evanescence, will be out on Oct. 11.
