Dirty Projectors and Björk Release First Physical Version Of ‘Mount Wittenberg Orca

Record company Domino (Arctic Monkeys, Animal Collective, Franz Ferdinand) is set to release Mount Wittenberg Orca, the collaborative album between Dirty Projectors and Björk, for the first time in physical formats on October 25. The album, previously only available digitally, will be released on LP as well as CD.

The hand numbered, limited edition LP version will feature a deluxe three-dimensional lenticular sleeve, 180 gram heavyweight vinyl and a deluxe 12 page large-format full color booklet.  A very limited number of the LPs will come with an exclusive Dirty Projectors signed photo print of the album cover when purchased from Domino Mart.

The EP was inspired by conversations on 15th century Italian theater between Dirty Projectors’ lead singer Dave Longstreth and Bjork in 2009. Longstreth wrote the music in 2009, around the same time that DP released Bitte Orca, and the album was recorded a year later at Rare Brook Room in New York City. Seeking the spontaneity and energy present only in live atmospheres, the artists only overdubbed the lead vocals and recorded the album in merely 3 days time. The album raised over $40,000 to promote sustainable ocean programs in partnership with National Geographic after only 2 weeks, according to a recent press release, and now it will be available in a physical format as well.
