Temple of the Dog to Reunite at Pearl Jam Twenty Event This Weekend

Twitter is alive tonight with reports of fans at the scene of this weekend’s big Pearl Jam Twenty Destination Weekend that Chris Cornell is on hand and just finished sound checking two Temple of the Dog songs at the event. Fans on the scene have tweeted that Cornell and the band have rehearsed “Reach Down.” Grunge news site GrungeReport.net is also confirming that they have rehearsed “Say Hello 2 Heaven” and “Hunger Strike.” Additionally, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes just tweeted:

Chris Cornell was just serenading me… Me in an empty amphitheater.

For those not familiar, Temple of the Dog was originally started by Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell as a tribute to the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone. The band’s lineup consisted of Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron (who are all currently members of Pearl Jam).

Temple of the Dog has reunited before, but has played few full shows in their career. The last such reunion was at a Pearl Jam concert in Los Angeles back in 2009 where they performed “Hunger Strike.”

We have a writer on the ground at this weekend’s Pearl Jam Twenty Destination Weekend, and as soon as more details unfold, we’ll bring them to you right here.
