The Black Keys Release Trailer for Upcoming Blakroc Album

The Black Keys are set to release their second collaborative album since their 2009 release of Blakroc, simply called Blakroc 2. Although no release date other than “coming soon” has been named yet, guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach says that the album has been finished. The album’s trailer shows wide range of contributors, including Wiz Khalifa, Talibb Kweli, OC, and Curren$y, and others.

Blakroc 2 will build on the collaborative efforts of the 2009-released Blakroc, which included contributions from Mos Def, Ludacris, Jim Jones, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan. Damon Dash, who produced the 2009 album, has also produced the upcoming installment.

The Keys are also ready to release their seventh studio album this year. In an interview with Canadian website VOIR, the group’s guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach confirmed that the album is finished, and will release this year. This will follow the release of their Grammy-winning album Brothers a little over a year ago.

The Keys have been touring for Brothers since its release, and the possibility of releasing not only another studio album—but a collaborative album as well—puts them at an unusually high production rate.

Release date or not, this nose-to-the-grindstone group out of Akron, Ohio, will likely deliver Blakroc 2 “soon,” as promised. Keep your eyes open for release dates on both upcoming Keys albums.
