Last month, we brought you details about the Creator’s Projects series of events taking place during October at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. One of these events is a “Psycho-Opera” featuring songs written by Yeah Yeah’s Yeah vocalist Karen O, co-created by design director KK Barret (Lost in Translation, former drummer of Screamers) and directed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Alex Rapp.
“I’m hoping to create an original live experience,” O said in a press release on Pitchfork recently. “It should feel like a psychedelic ride laced with catharsis.”
Titled Stop the Virgens, the shows begin on October 12 and conclude after eight performances on October 22. Bandmate Nick Zinner and Sam Spiegel (aka Producer Squeak-E-Clean of N.A.S.A.) contributed to the musical direction of the piece. The list of interesting contributors doesn’t end there, however, because in addition to members from the Greenhornes/Raconteurs, Money Mark and YYY’s drummer Brian Chase, actress Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under, Public Enemies) will also perform.
