George Harrison’s son Dhani Harrison has been busy in 2011 with his newly formed LA-based rock outfit thenewno2, recently announcing the release of EP002, the group’s second EP.
Hot Records, LTD. will release EP002 September 27, but if you need a sneak preview you can head over to the LA Times blog to hear the RZA-guested track, “Mr. President.” Other collaborators on the album include Regina Spektor, Crisis and Sir Eyes.
The group isn’t just collaborating will established artists musically—they’re also going that route in the visual sense, as well. Well-respected London street artist Ben Eine, who reached the public eye when he presented President Obama with one of his pieces for the president’s first official UK state visit, created the artwork for the EP
Once released, EP002 will serve as the group’s most recent studio work since they dropped their critically-acclaimed debut, You Are Here, back in 2008. Since that release, Harrison had been working with his side project Fistful of Mercy.
Before the EP sees a public release, though, the group will play a handful of shows in LA for KCRW’s School Night at Bardot and Alpine Valley, WI for the Pearl Jam 20 Festival.
