Beloved indie pop artist St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark formerly of the Polyphonic Spree, recently premiered a video for “Cruel” in which she plays an overwhelmed suburban housewife who is literally—and metaphorically—buried alive by her family.
The second track to be revealed from her upcoming album Strange Mercy, out September 13 on 4AD, “Cruel” features an upbeat, yet melancholic sound, a feature backed by the darkly humorous video.
Clark addressed shooting the video, which included the construction of a full-sized grave, over at the Huffington Post.
