Watch: New Florence + The Machine Song “What the Water Gave Me”

Florence + the Machine released a music video for “What the Water Gave Me”, the first taste of their new album. Set to be released November 7 in the U.K. under Island, and later the same month in the U.S. under Universal Republic, the album is yet untitled and features the work of producer Paul Epworth, who produced songs like “Cosmic Love” and “Blinding” on the 2009 album.

After playing a slew of large festivals such as Glastonbury, lead singer Florence Welch matured as an artist and as a musician, recognized the sound she wanted for her second record during production of Lungs, and knew she needed Epworth to produce it.

“With Lungs, I hit on the sound I wanted about halfway through making it,” she said in an interview with Pitchfork. “With this record, I’ve been able to expand on the idea that I was hitting on towards the end of making Lungs. It’s like taking everything from the first album that seemed quite separate and making them whole.”

Florence and the Machine's new album hits stores November 7.

“The way that “Cosmic Love” turned out really made me want to do the whole next record with him,” she continued in the same Pitchfork interview. “I always had this idea for a really big sound coming from all that clatter, and he managed to capture that on record in the best way.”
