Rachael Yamagata Announces New Studio Album and Tour

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata returns with her first studio album in three years. Entitled Chesapeake, the album was produced  by John Alagia (Liz Phair, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz) and is set to drop on October 11. An extensive supporting U.S. tour will follow, beginning on October 24 in Portland, Maine. A full listing of her U.S. tour dates is included at the end of this article.

Yamagata enlisted the help of a number of distinguished musicians in the recording of Chesapeake, creating what she describes as a musical “dream team” and giving her album an eclectic flavor rife with rich musicality and, of course, her signature sultry vocals.

“The songs on Chesapeake were collectively inspired by the people in the room,” said Yamagata. “I insisted on a creative scenario that became only about the music makers themselves, giving it a spirit of generosity in the music making which made it easy to tap into a ‘flow’. When it was right, we all knew it was right. There was a balance that gave these songs a lift and yet still retained their richness. Magic maybe.”
