Though over a month into the past, Hellfest 2011 is still casting waves into the future as videos from the heavy metal French festival pour over onto the internet. One of the latest is the entire set for The Melvins shot in high quality.
Stretching just over an hour, the sixteen song set posted on YouTube.com is professional quality footage with immaculate audio. The set list includes Melvins classics; “Hung Bunny,” “Roman Dog Bird,” “Anaconda,” “the Ballad of Dwight Fry,” and “Night Goat.”
Towards the end of the set, former Pantera frontman and current Down vocalist Phil Anselmo can be seen in the stage right wing behind Buzz Osborne’s amplifer stack acknowledging the Melvins guitarist and singer with a fist-bump .
In the final minutes of the set Anselmo joined the band onstage to partake in the finale on drums. As the singer finished off a drum roll on a cymbal, he lost grip on his right stick which went spiraling end-over-end above his head before falling to rest off stage to his left.
