Listen: Damon Albarn Teases Latest Oxfam Project with Hallo

Ten years after releasing Mali Music to benefit Oxfam, global organization determined to help the impoverished world-wide; former Blur frontman and Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn is currently recording another album to help fund the charity.  This time, Albarn and Oxfam have headed to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo to record with the first teaser now available.

Set to produce and record a full-length album within a week’s time, the collective of musicians, technicians, and producers have a couple days remaining in DRC.  After arriving last Wednesday in country, the group set up and started recording July 21.

Making the trip with Albarn and Oxfam are; T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Jo Gunton, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes.

Richard Russell posted last Wednesday on this Twitter that the collective sought to work with local musicians; given the photographs published on tumblr account for the recording session, dozens if not more local musicians (some with home-made instruments) have become involved in the project.

The project, named Tout Puissant Mukalo, released the following teaser, “Hallo,” yesterday.
