This year is proving to be a busy one for The Flaming Lips, with the band most recently premiering psychedelic, somewhat disturbing new track and similar accompanying music video from their upcoming EP collaboration with Rhode Island noise rock outfit Lightening Bolt.
Entitled “I Want to Get High But I Don’t Want Brain Damage,” the track is their most recent collaborative release following their work with Prefuse 73 in May (which came encased in gummy marijuana-flavored skull) and the release of three new tracks via a USB stick embedded in gummy fetus earlier this week.
The track will be available via a 12” EP (pictured above) that features four collaborative tracks between Lightening Bolt and The Flaming Lips, with one side containing Flaming Lips Tracks that feature Lightening Bolt and the other side, naturally, Lightening Bolt tracks that feature The Flaming Lips.

The EP will see its initial release at an upcoming in-store signing this coming Tuesday, July 26 at Newbury Comics’ Harvard Square store, where frontman Wayne Coyne will have just four copies of the EP, along with some leftover gummy skulls and fetuses.
